Dubai Police are planning to add Tesla Cybertrucks to their fleet of luxury patrol vehicles, Arabian Business reported. The department's official Twitter account posted an image of a Cybertruck bearing Dubai Police logos on Tuesday, with the caption “2020.”
Commander-in-Chief Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri told Arabian Business that the new vehicles will help enhance security presence in tourist destinations. The force already operates a notable collection of high-performance cars, including the Bugatti Veyron and Lamborghini Aventador.
The announcement came a day after Tesla CEO Elon Musk tweeted that the Cybertruck had received 250,000 pre-orders. The electric pickup features a cold-pressed stainless steel exoskeleton and “bulletproof” windows, though the source notes that claim remains unverified. A top-of-the-range tri-motor variant, priced at $69,900, is advertised to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in under three seconds and offer a range of over 500 miles.
It remains unclear how Dubai Police expect to acquire Cybertrucks next year, as production is not scheduled to begin until late 2021.
